where he earned his bachelor's degree under the guidance of Sofia Lourenço. He continued his studies in Berlin with László Simon at the Hochschule der Künste, and later completed his master’s degree at the prestigious Hartt School, University of Hartford (USA), studying with Luiz de Moura Castro. Over the years, he also received valuable artistic guidance from renowned pianists such as Helena Sá e Costa, Pedro Burmester, Mikail Pethukov, and Emanuel Ax.
He earned his PhD from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, graduating with Summa cum Laude and the highest possible distinction.
During his time at the Hartt School, António Oliveira was a finalist in the Emerson String Quartet Competition, highlighting his strong affinity for chamber music.
His career as a performer has taken him across Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Finland, Turkey, the United States, and Canada, appearing as a soloist with orchestra, recitalist, and chamber musician.
Alongside his performance career, António is a dedicated pedagogue. Since 2002, he has been a faculty member at the Conservatório de Música do Porto, appointed through a public audition process. He currently serves as Head of the Piano Department. He is regularly invited to give masterclasses and to serve on the juries of national and international competitions.
In 2023, his recording "Schumann & Rachmaninoff" was honored with the Silver Medal for Outstanding Achievement at the Global Music Awards, a testament to his artistic excellence and interpretative depth.
