David Ball, dr. habil.
Dr. David Ball is recognised as one of Hungary’s prominent pianists and a representative of the Lisztian tradition. He has performed in some of the world’s most renowned concert halls, including Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Salle Pleyel in Paris, the Festspielhaus in Salzburg, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, and the Kioi Hall in Tokyo.
Since 2013, Dr. Ball has been a professor of piano at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest and a visiting professor at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music in China.
Born in Budapest in 1982, Dr. Ball received his formal training at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, earning his doctorate in Liberal Arts (DLA) in 2011 and completing his habilitation in 2022. He has delivered masterclasses at leading music academies and conservatories across China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Romania, Poland, Georgia, and Spain.
Dr. Ball’s recordings, released with Hunnia Records, Toccata Classics, and Channel Classics, have garnered critical praise. In 2024, his Liszt album was honoured with a Certificate of Merit from the 43rd Liszt Ferenc International Grand Prix du Disque.
